My name is Dr. Yaseer Shakur and I am a Hospitalist and Research Lead within the Division of Primary Care, Geriatric Care, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Complex Continuing Care at Trillium Health Partners. I also serve as an Associate Hospitalist Physician at the Reactivation Care Centre and practice as an Urgent Care Physician at an Urgent Care Centre in the Greater Toronto Area.
I hold an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, where I am actively engaged in teaching, mentorship, and clinical scholarship.
My research training is rooted in public health nutrition, with a focus on micronutrient consumption in the Canadian population, particularly folic acid and vitamin D. My current research interests include geriatric malnutrition, especially among hospitalized older adults, and the role of natural health products in preventive medicine. My work is focused on improving clinical outcomes through evidence-based nutrition and preventive care strategies for complex patient populations.
